Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake
This Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake has only 4 simple ingredients. Absolutely no mixing, tastes almost as good as a chocolate cherry cake from scratch!
I’m just not much of a baker unless it’s super simple. But dump cake ? Yeah, dump cakes are definitely my thing.
Just a few ingredients and absolutely no mixing, and this Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake comes out just as delicious as the complicated desserts you see all over Pinterest!
This chocolate cherry dessert is absolutely sinful. Chocolate and dark, sweet cherries. It’s the best mix of a brownie, chocolate cake, and cherry pie.
How to make Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake
First, lightly grease a 9×13” pan.
Then, add the two cans of cherry pie filling. I chose one standard cherry flavor, and one dark and sweet cherry flavor. I LOVE the darker sweet cherry filling, but it can be overpowering alone. The standard, bright red tart cherry filling really helps to temper it.
Next, layer a box of chocolate cake mix over the cherry pie filling. Then, the pats of butter.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is bubbly. Towards the end of the bake time, check every few minutes to see if the cake is bubbling.
Allow the chocolate cherry cake to cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting, Then, using a wide, flat spatula will help you cut and scoop slices out. It is very, very gooey! That’s a good thing, but be prepared to carefully cut and remove your pieces.
This chocolate cherry cake is absolutely sinful by itself or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top! Keep it on the counter, covered for up to 3 days.
