Recipe Substitutions:

One of the best ways to play with this recipe is to swap out different cake mixes. Substitute a box of yellow cake mix or a box of white cake mix instead. Or double down on the strawberry flavor and use a strawberry cake mix.

Chocolate Strawberry Dump Cake: Use chocolate cake mix for a chocolate covered strawberry twist.

Strawberry Lemonade Dump Cake:Use a lemon cake mix.

Try out a different type of pie filling instead of the strawberry filling! Blueberry, peach or cherry pie filling are delicious. You can also get creative and combine flavors.

Swap out the fresh berries for other berries, like blackberries or raspberries.

This recipe is easily made gluten-free with a gluten-free cake mix.

Storing Leftovers

Once the dump cake has cooled, cover it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. You can store this delicious strawberry dessert in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

You can freeze leftovers as well, once cooled. Place in a freezer-safe airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw in the refrigerator overnight, then reheat in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes.
