This easy recipe is made from simple ingredients! You will need a box of cake mix, butter, fresh fruit (I used sliced strawberries) and pie filling.
I truly think that this is the BEST dump cake recipe because strawberries are a favorite in our house. Dump cake recipes are like easier versions of a fruit cobbler.
This dump cake is the perfect dessert to make when you want to make something sweet, but don’t want to break out the measuring cups! You can throw this easy recipe together in less than 5 minutes.
Recipe Substitutions:
One of the best ways to play with this recipe is to swap out different cake mixes. Substitute a box of yellow cake mix or a box of white cake mix instead. Or double down on the strawberry flavor and use a strawberry cake mix.
Chocolate Strawberry Dump Cake: Use chocolate cake mix for a chocolate covered strawberry twist.
Strawberry Lemonade Dump Cake:Use a lemon cake mix.

Once the dump cake has cooled, cover it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. You can store this delicious strawberry dessert in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
You can freeze leftovers as well, once cooled. Place in a freezer-safe airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw in the refrigerator overnight, then reheat in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes.
Easy Strawberry Dump Cake

- 3 cups fresh strawberries chopped
- 2 21-ounce cans of strawberry pie filling
- 1 15.25 ounce box butter golden cake mix
- ¾ cup of salted butter cold
For Topping:
- whipped cream
- vanilla ice cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with baking spray.
- Spread the fresh strawberries evenly over the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Scoop the cans of strawberry pie filling into the bottom of the baking dish and use a rubber spatula to spread it evenly on top of the strawberries.
- Sprinkle on the butter golden cake mix as evenly as possible on top of the pie filling. If necessary, use a spatula to spread it out.
- Cut the cold butter into thin, even squares. Place the thin slices of butter evenly across the top of the cake mix.
- Bake in preheated oven for 35-45 minutes or until golden brown all over the top and bubbly on the sides.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for at least 10-15 minutes.
- Serve warm topped with Cool Whip or a big scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Can frozen strawberries be used if thawed and drained?
