These Easy Gingerbread Brownies start with a brownie mix. A simple gingerbread swirl and sprinkles are added to make them festive for the holidays!

If you’ve been following along on this blog for a while, you know I’m not a huge baker! I rarely bake from scratch because I totally lack the patience to measure everything out. I almost always start from a mix. That’s exactly what I do here with these Easy Gingerbread Brownies!

I use brownie mix to make the dry ingredients for the brownies, then make a homemade gingerbread mixture to swirl through the brownie batter. The warm spice of the gingerbread adds such amazing flavor and taste, and makes these brownies perfect for Christmas!

Easy Gingerbread Brownies

These festive Christmas brownies start with the brownie mix of your choice (make sure you follow the package instructions to mix them up), then I make an easy gingerbread swirl to mix through the brownie batter. There is a lot of chocolate and a hint of gingerbread in every single bite!

For the swirl, I combine molasses and melted butter, then add an earthy blend of ginger and other spices. It’s hard not to lick the spoon when you mix up the gingerbread swirl. It’s SO yummy!

Use a butter knife to swirl the gingerbread through the brownie mix, then top everything with some festive holiday sprinkles before baking! Occasionally, I will add a handful of chocolate chips to the batter to make them extra chocolatey.

Serving Suggestions

Of course, these brownies aren’t for breakfast (but I’m not judging). But, if you’d like to incorporate some gingerbread flavor into your Christmas breakfast plans, I love these Gingerbread Scones! Or, you could try Mary Washington’s 1784 Gingerbread Cake. It’s a historic recipe that is surprisingly delicious.

Once baked, you can slice them into squares, or use a cookie cutter to cut them into tree shapes, or any other festive holiday shapes!

Storing Gingerbread Swirl Brownies

Transfer fully cooled brownies to an airtight container, or cover the pan tightly with plastic wrap. Store at room temperature.
