Ingredient Substitutions for Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes
If you’re new here to Blackberry Babe, I want you to know that one of my biggest goals is to empower you to use the ingredients you already have on hand! Here are a few suggestions for this particular recipe:
- You can choose to use all Yukon gold potatoes, or for a lighter, fluffier mash, use half Yukon gold and half Russet potatoes.
- Instead of cream cheese, use heavy cream.
- Instead of fresh garlic cloves, you’re welcome to substitute 1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder per clove.
- Use chicken broth, vegetable stock or veggie broth instead of the chicken stock.
- Use unflavored, plain Greek yogurt instead of the sour cream.
- Try rosemary or thyme in place of the chives.
- Add in a handful of diced bacons or caramelized onions for a gourmet flavor.

Serving Suggestions
I think this mashed potato recipe is the perfect side dish for nearly any protein! Serve it with air fried turkey breast or smoked turkey. Or try these BBQ pork meatballs.

Storing Leftover Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes freeze beautiful! Allow to cool completely, then transfer to an air-tight container or Ziploc bag. Freeze for up to 3 months, although the quality can degrade a bit after the first month!
