This is the very best baked asparagus recipe! A simple side dish that’s perfect with steak.

I think this recipe is the easiest way to make asparagus in the oven! Why? Because it’s elegant, perfectly seasoned and coated with a blanket of cheese. What more could you want?

Asparagus stalks are typically sold in one-pound bunches, which is exactly what you’ll need for this recipe! To season the asparagus, I use simple ingredients like garlic, salt, pepper and a bit of Italian seasoning.

First, the asparagus will need to be cleaned before it is roasted. To do this, place the asparagus on a cutting board. Snap off the woody, thick ends, and discard them. Rinse the remaining green asparagus spears, and pat dry with a paper towel.

Recipe Substitutions and Additions

If you are unable to find the cheese blend, you’re welcome to use any combination of mozzarella cheese, provolone cheese and Parmesan cheese.

Sprinkle the top of the baked asparagus with toasted almonds for extra texture and flavor. Also, a squeeze of lemon juice or some lemon zest is delicious!

If there are leftovers, store leftover asparagus in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat gently in the oven or in a skillet on the stovetop.
