Get a peek inside a full week of Hungryroot meals, including high-protein dinners, quick and easy lunches, snacks, and how to get 40% off your first box.
Hey ya’ll, I’m back again! A few months ago, I received my first Hungryroot shipment and wrote about it almost immediately in this Hungryroot review. We really enjoyed our first box. But like it is with anything, you learn a little bit after your first experience.
For our second box, I did even more customization to give us a wider array of proteins and veggies to enjoy. And, I included customized snacks for each member of the family, which was a HIT!

I don’t want to scare you off, because the customization only took 10-15 minutes of my time. And, it was kind of fun because Hungryroot’s web-site is easy to use! Our second box felt super balanced, and had more variety in protein and veggies. Plus, I added more snacks!
I also included a comfort food favorite (pasta) to scratch our pasta itch. It’s still cold here in Kansas City, so it really hit the spot!
Bonus: I’ve partnered with Hungryroot to give my readers an exclusive discount—40% off your first box plus a free gift! That’s even better than their current public offer. Just use my link and the discount will apply automatically.
Let’s take a look at what my menu included so you can see what a full week of Hungryroot looks like!
Hungryroot Dinner Menu
For our second week of Hungryroot, I customized our dinner options to perfectly match my family’s taste. We prefer to eat high protein meals, but we do not avoid high-quality carbs since we are very active. My choices for this week were:
Sirloin Steak with Roasted Potatoes + Steamed Green Beans
This dinner was a classic combo that delivers on both flavor and nutrition. The sirloin steak was tender and high in protein. It was paired with roasted potatoes and steamed green beans which I doctored up with garlic and lemon.
This meal felt restaurant-quality but came together in under 20 minutes. A very satisfying dinner for all of us, and we had leftovers that my husband enjoyed for lunch the next day!
Shrimp Rigatoni alla Vodka + Kid-Friendly Plain Rigatoni alla Vodka
The shrimp rigatoni was creamy, satisfying, and had plenty of protein from the shrimp. Hungryroot also included an easy option for me to customize the meal for my son, who is a bit picky!
This was a smart way to make one meal stretch for everyone while still sneaking in good flavor for my husband and I. And like the steak dinner, we had a bit of leftovers which were perfect to warm up for lunch.

Roasted Salmon + Sweet Potato on Brussels
This dinner felt gourmet with barely any work. The salmon fillets were high quality and cooked up beautifully. The side of sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts brought in color, texture, and plenty of nutrients. It was a great way to switch up our usual protein rotation and sneak in extra veggies.

Hungryroot Lunch Menu
If you work from home like I do, you know how tough it can be to eat well between back-to-back meetings.
I’m always looking for quick lunches that don’t involve much prep. In fact, the lunch options I chose only took 10-15 minutes to prepare, most of which was hands off! I chose two lunch options for us, knowing that the dinner portions were generous and we would have some dinner leftovers that could be heated up for lunch.
These Hungryroot lunch options hit the mark:
Margherita Pizza + Kale Salad
This lunch felt like a treat, but it was still a smart choice. The Margherita pizza baked up quickly in the oven. It had a high quality, homemade crust and tasted fresh. Hungryroot paired it with a simple kale salad to make it a balanced plate.
My husband and I thought it was a wonderful combination of comfort food and veggies. Definitely way more satisfying than a boring sandwich! After the last few years of working from home, a sandwich is the truly the last thing we want to eat.
Wild Salmon Citrus Salad
One thing I’m consistently impressed with Hungryroot is the quality of the proteins. This salad was topped with wild salmon that I quickly seared in a pan, as well as fresh avocado. The salad was crunchy, slightly sweet and very filling! Overall, an excellent choice for lunch.

Hungryroot Snacks
I think the thing that makes Hungryroot the most unique (other than very little prep and chopping), is the ability to work snacks and basic groceries into your plan. You truly can skip the grocery store!
Eating higher protein helps us stay full throughout the day, but on days we do more intense work outs of my son has practice, there’s still a lot of snacking going on! Here’s what I included to make sure each member of the family had snacks they loved for the week:
- Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Almonds – I kept these in my car for post-workout cravings, and because I have a huge sweet tooth!
- Chocolate Covered Freeze-Dried Strawberries – I am obsessed with these Tru Fru strawberries! These stayed in my office so I didn’t have to share.
- Low Sugar Sour Gummies – My son LOVES sour candy. He mostly snacks on popcorn, fruit and cheese, but I added these gummies in for something fun.
- Organic Pink Lady Apples – Hungryroots produce is top quality (think Sprouts/Whole Foods), so I snuck in a bag of apples for all of us to enjoy.
- Sopressata + Cheddar Snack Pack – My husband loves these snack packs for after a workout!
- Genoa Salami – Another favorite of my husband to enjoy with string cheese or a piece of fruit.
- Baby Carrots – These were individually wrapped into single portions, so we all enjoyed them throughout the week!
