I like to serve these mushrooms with protein and some brussels sprouts like these Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts. Brussels sprouts have great flavor and a meaty texture, which makes them the perfect vegetable side dish for steak and mushrooms!

What type of mushrooms should I use for this easy recipe?

I have this recipe written to use baby bellas. I think the earthy flavor of Portobello mushrooms make them the best mushrooms for this recipe, but I there are a variety of mushrooms that would work well, including:

  • Shiitake Mushrooms
  • Cremini Mushrooms
  • White button mushrooms

If you have whole mushrooms or larger mushrooms, cut them down to a uniform, bite-size before cooking.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Portabella mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
