How I Use Hungryroot for Meal Prep (+ 40% Off)
Hungryroot isn’t just for weeknight dinners, it’s also a huge help for meal prep! Here’s how I set my family up for a successful week using one delivery.
By now, you all probably know I’m a big fan of Hungryroot. I’ve used it for high protein weeks, kid-friendly dinners, and even holiday appetizers. But this month, I decided to approach my delivery a little differently by using it as a meal prep tool!
I’m always a little delusional headed into summer, thinking it will be super relaxed with plenty of free time. And, that’s just not the case! We are always running kids somewhere, or at the ball field. And, our diet can really suffer as a result.
Using Hungryroot for meal prep was not something I had tried yet, but I scheduled my delivery for the weekend before a very busy week. The result? An entire week of breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks, almost entirely handled before Monday even started. And, I didn’t even have to go to the store!

Here’s how I did it:
Why Hungryroot Works So Well for Meal Prep
The thing I love most about Hungryroot is that it’s not just a dinner kit service. You can build an entire week’s worth of food! Proteins, produce, snacks, even breakfast are all in one order. When everything arrives at once, pre-portioned and ready to go, it makes Sunday meal prep so much faster.
This delivery came with salmon, chicken breast, ground beef patties, and sirloin steak, plus a ton of produce and pantry items. The produce is almost always washed and ready to cook! I had everything I needed to knock out breakfasts, lunches, and dinners in about an hour.
Meal Prep Options at Hungryroot
The Meal Prep Breakfast Sandwiches recipe was the first thing I tackled on Sunday, and it might be my new favorite Hungryroot find. I used the Rudi’s Organic White English Muffins, Vital Farms pasture-raised liquid eggs, and Hungryroot’s shredded sharp cheddar. I made a full batch and wrapped them individually so my husband and son could grab one each morning.
These were a total hit! They reheated in the microwave in less than a minute, and my family really appreciated having a hot, protein-filled breakfast.
For lunch and dinner prep, I made:
- Little Gem Champagne Salad Kit + Salmon: One of the easiest lunches I put together this week was layering the Church Brothers Little Gem Champagne Salad Kit with a quickly seared Atlantic salmon fillet. The salad kit did all the heavy lifting and it’s filled with chopped dates, cheese and good quality lettuce. Delightful! I just topped it with salmon and lunch was done in under 10 minutes.
- Organic Honey Citrus Chopped Salad Kit: The Taylor Farms Organic Honey Citrus Chopped Salad Kit is one I keep reordering. I paired it with leftover chicken breast from dinner earlier in the week, and it felt like a completely different meal. Two salad kits means four easy lunches covered for the week. Cheaper and way healthier than a boring sandwich!
- Feta Tzatziki Salmon + Crispy Potatoes: The Feta Tzatziki Salmon + Crispy Potatoes recipe was a huge hit. The Tzatziki Dip served as the sauce, and I could eat that stuff with a spoon. I’ve ordered it several times and it’s good on so many things.
- Miso Chicken Breast Sweet Potato Bowl with Broccoli Florets: The Miso Chicken Breast Sweet Potato Bowl is a super generous portion and full of good nutrition! We ate this one at a swim meet and everyone agreed it was delicious cold.
- Burger with French Fries + Chopped Salad: The Burger with French Fries + Chopped Salad was my son’s favorite. Grass-fed ground beef patties on pretzel burger buns. Yes, please! The patties were pre-made so all I had to do was toss together the salad and roast the potatoes while my husband grilled them.

Meal Prep Snacks
No Hungryroot order is complete without snacks! I added a few of our family favorites to round out the week:
- Black Bean Brownie Batter: I order this every time to help curb my sweet tooth!
- TruFru Chocolate Covered Freeze-Dried Strawberries: I’ve mentioned these in previous posts and I keep reordering them. So good and great to throw in the cooler.
- Leisure Hydration Electrolyte Refreshers: Another recent find that I’ve really enjoyed. I ordered both the Lemonade and Wild Berry flavors. Perfect for staying hydrated at ballgames!
