Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut your sweet potato into small fry shaped portions, then pat the cut sweet potatoes with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
Place in a large bowl and pour olive oil over the fries and toss to coat.
In a small bowl, add garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
Add the spice mix to the sweet potato fries, and toss to combine.
Spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with nonstick spray and place the sweet potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Air fry for 8 minutes, pause and shake the basket tray halfway through frying. At this time, spray the fries with cooking spray to help them turn golden brown.
The cook times will vary depending on your air fryer, so keep a close eye on them the last few minutes to make sure they don't burn.
Serve warm with your favorite sauce!
Notes
Depending on the size of your air fryer basket, you may need to make a second batch. Your first batch will usually need more cook time than the 2nd, 3rd, etc.You can omit the cornstarch if you don't have any, but it's the secret ingredient for making the outsides of the fries extra crispy!
