- 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil
For the seasoning:
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard, ground
- 1/2 teaspoon rosemary, ground
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, ground
For garnish (optional)
- green onions, chopped
- chopped parsley, fresh
- parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
- Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix together the seasonings for the dry rub.
- Using a pastry brush or grill brush, brush the pork chops with oil and rub in the dry mixture well.
- Place pork chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 6 minutes, then flip and air fry for an additional 6 minutes. Remove from the air fryer when the internal temperature measures 145 degrees Fahrenheit using an instant read meat thermometer and the surface of the pork chops is golden brown. If the pork chops are not turning golden brown, you can always spray them with cooking spray in the last few minutes of cooking.
- Allow the cooked pork chops to rest on a plate for 5 minutes before cutting. As it rests, the internal temperature will raise a few degrees.
- Garnish with one or more of the optional garnishes. Serve warm!
Notes
If the amount of seasoning in the rub overwhelms you, you can always dress your pork chops with a hearty dose of salt, pepper and garlic powder (SPG). This is a classic seasoning that always yields delicious pork chops for us!
A meat thermometer is your friend with this recipe! Because we're using thick pork chops, you'll want to measure the internal temperature of the pork chop to be sure it's done.
The thickness of the pork chops will greatly impact your cooking time. This also applies if you decide to use thin pork chops, as you'll need to pull them quicker than the suggested cook time!
