Oven Braised Turkey Legs

There's no need to make an entire turkey when you can make delicious turkey drumsticks. Give each guest a deliciously braised whole turkey leg for Thanksgiving dinner!

INGREDIENTS

– Olive oil – Fresh turkey legs, skin on – Salt, black pepper – Garlic powder For the braising liquid: – Apple cider – Turkey stock – Olive oil – Red onion, chopped – Red delicious apple – Nutmeg, cinnamon – Allspice – fresh herbs for garnish

1. PREP

Preheat your oven to 350F. Pat the turkey legs dry, then season  with salt, pepper and garlic powder.

2. SAUTE ONIONS

In a large Dutch oven add olive oil and heat on medium heat. Add onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes, set aside.

3. SEAR THE TURKEY

Increase the burner temperature. Add the turkey skin-side down. Sear the turkey for about 4 minutes per side, then set aside.

4. ADD INGREDIENTS

 Add sliced apples to the bottom of Dutch oven, then nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice. Add onions & apple cider, then add the seared turkey.

5. ROAST THE TURKEY

Pour turkey stock around the turkey legs. Cover the Dutch oven, then roast the turkey legs  for 1.5 hours.

5. SERVE

Remove the cover, and roast uncovered for the last 30 minutes. Serve warm, garnished with fresh herbs
