5 Reasons I LOVE my Eco Friendly Rothy’s Flats! Rothy’s Flats Review

Want to know why I love Rothy’s? Read on for my Rothy’s Flats review!
You all know I blog about food. Food is my thing. What you might not know about me is that I am shoe obsessed. Not heels and boots kind of shoes, but comfy shoes. Flats, sneakers, sandals. I’m a tall girl and I’m also pretty active. So, comfy and versatile shoes are super important to me, but I also need them to be stylish. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen plenty of stories from me about my kicks! This Rothy’s Flats Review should tell you exactly why these awesome eco-friendly flats are right in my wheelhouse!
Other than my love for comfy-cool shoes, there’s another thing you might not know about me. By day, I work for a recycling company! Yep, day in and out I am saving glass bottles from the landfill and turning them into new products. SO, when I discovered Rothy’s flats are from recycled plastic bottles, I knew I needed a pair. And luckily, when I first slipped my foot in these beautiful flats, it was love. After a few months of crash testing these versatile shoes, I decided that I wanted to share my love with you all. I’ve put together my top 5 reasons why I love my Eco Friendly Rothy’s Flats!
SO COMFY. The first time I put them on, I told my husband, “These feel like tennis shoes.” They are cushy and the knit material is soft and flexible. It hugs your feet while stretching and flexing where it needs to. Like over your bunions. Not that you have them, but I certainly do.
I’m tall, so I usually wear flats. Flats should be comfy and low-maintenance, right? In my experience, they usually aren’t. One of my biggest gripes about flats is that they leave you with those painful red marks at the end of the day. Not so with my Rothy’s flats! Rothy’s knit material is stretchy and hugs your feet. To me, they’re the future of flats. A shoe that looks polished and feels comfy. The best comparison I can make is your very favorite pair of leggings. These are like those, for your feet!
Rothy’s Flats are VERSATILE
Rothy’s look great. They have cool prints and color schemes. For me, I’ve found they work well with my favorite pencil skirt or black work pants, AND with my running tights. I can slip them on for running errands, whether I’m wearing jeans or leggings. I wear them to work every day, and I wear them when I’m traveling and have to rock business attire while flying.
I’m a spin class devotee, too. One of my biggest gripes is that I have to bring three pairs of shoes with me every day! My work shoes, my gym shoes, and my spin cleats which I can’t wear outside. Now, I wear my Rothy’s with my dress clothes. Then, I change into my workout gear and put my Rothy’s back on. It’s one less thing to remember to bring every day!
What does that even mean? Well, as someone who has worked in the recycling industry for the last 5 years, I can try to fill you in. It means a lot for Rothy’s to make their shoes out of recycled water bottles? Why? Because we can all recycle to our hearts content, but unless our local company’s actually find ways to use the items we recycle, we are no better off.
I have to admit that I was skeptical that something made out of recycle water bottles could still be soft on my feet. When I touched my first pair of Rothy’s, I was amazed. And I think you will be too! I’m guilty of whipping them off my feet when people ask me about them and making them touch the soft knit fabric. And without exception, everyone who has touched the material has said, “I need a pair of these.”
Rothy’s Flats LAST. And last. And last.
There’s a new wave of people seeking out goods that last. And I’m one of them! If you buy a cheap pair of flats and they’re worn beyond repair within 6 months, you’ll have to throw them out. AND you have to go back and buy another pair, which requires more labor, materials and shipping. Not good! Rothy’s are machine washable, too, so you can keep them looking looking brand new. No one will know that you’ve been rocking them for years, and you can be proud that you upgraded your flats!
Rothy’s Flats look… AMAZING
The colors and designs are so super fresh and I already can’t wait for my next pair! One of my favorite features is the pop of color that most have on the heel. So fun. A lot of my favorites have sold out in my size, so if there are any that catch your eye, act quickly! If you have your heart set on a certain pair and it’s sold out, sign up to receive a notification when it comes back in stock. Rothy’s will even hold the pair for you for a bit after they e-mail you!
Rothy’s Flats are…. WORTH IT!
Okay, I know I said that I would only share five reasons, but I just added this one after 6 months of Rothy’s ownership. The #1 questions that I’m asked is, “Are they worth it?” These babies are pretty expensive. Yes, I agree. But yes, they’re worth it. When you have a flat that feels SO good on your feet that you literally haven’t worn any of your other flats since, I think it’s worth it. I only wish I could afford more pairs!
If you’ve ordered a pair, I’d love to hear what you think in the comments!
Disclaimer: I was provided free shoes from Rothy’s to try out. I genuinely love them, otherwise you would not be seeing this post, as I was not required to write it! I am serving as an ambassador and affiliate for the brand, and this Rothy’s Flats Review post was done of my own accord.
Hi Michelle! Thanks for your review. I just came across Rothy’s on Pinterest and I started looking into them but I haven’t seen too many reviews on them. Do they have any arch support? I have flat feet and have found that I need some pretty good support for my flats to be comfortable (which is hard to find!).
Hi Taylor! They don’t have built in arch support, so you’d have to purchase an insert. I do find them way more comfortable on the sole than your typical Steven Madden flats, there’s some cushioning there, just not a ridge for the arch.
I just purchased my first pair of Rothy’s and am OBSESSED as well! They are SO comfortable, I feel like I’m wearing slippers. I have hard to fit feet and have an even harder time finding a cute pair of flats. These fit the bill and I LOVE the pointed toe! I can’t wait to get another pair.
Hi! I’m really interested in getting the lighter neutral color but am worried they won’t hold up and look “dirty”. Have you purchased lighter colors? All the reviews I see are for dark color. Thank you!
Hi Rena! I do have the lighter “birdseye” print. It does show dirt pretty easily, but I also manage a somewhat heavy industrial and dusty environment, so my situation may be worse than everyday wear? The good thing is that when you throw them in the washer, they come out looking brand spanking new! So, I’d pick the color you like and think you’ll wear most and plan to wash with a load every few weeks!
I actually have low arches so I typically don’t use inserts. If you find a set that works well, let me know and I will add the recommendation to this post. Hope you love the shoes!
I’ve been considering buying Rothy’s and I’m curious how they hold up over time. My biggest complaint about flats is that they wear out so quickly that they hardly seem worth the money. If Rothy’s are as durable and long-lasting as they seem to be, I think they’ll be exactly what I am looking for.
My oldest pair are about 14 months old. When I throw them in the wash, they come out looking brand new! So I think they will have a few years of life on them. Definitely an improvement over the black flats I’d get from Target which would last me about half a year!
Thanks for the info. Can you compare the sizing to any brand? Like do you order the same size in rothy’s as you would in Keds or Nike etc?
Hi Jacqueline! I find them to be very true to size. I wear a 9 in Target/Converse/most tennis shoes and a 9 in Rothy’s as well.

I’m totally with you! It’s crazy how comfy they are. I have a hard time wearing any other flats now.
Thanks for the review, I am an eco-educator and am always looking for cool new products that are smart and sustainable!
Same here! Thanks for stopping by!

Hello! I just bought my first pair, which arch support do you use in yours?
